Frequently Asked Questions

What happens in the first session?

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I’ll ask a little about what has brought you to counselling, and we’ll talk through what you’d like to get out of the sessions. You don’t need to prepare anything – just come as you are.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes. Everything you share with me is treated with the utmost respect and confidentiality. The only exception would be if I believed you or someone else was at serious risk of harm, in which case I have a professional duty to act to keep people safe.

How long does each session last?

Sessions are usually 50 minutes. We’ll meet at the same time each week, either online or in-person, depedning on what suits you best.

How many sessions will I needs?

That depends on your goals and situation. Some people benefit from just a few sessions, while others prefer longer-term support. We can review this together as we go along.

What if I feel nervous about starting?

That’s completely normal. Many people feel anxious before their first session. I will do my best to put you at ease, and you are always in control of what you choose to share.

Do you offer online counselling?

Yes, I offer secure online sessions if you prefer to work from the comfort of your own home.

What if I can’t make a session?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask for at least 24 hours notice. Cancellations with less notice may be charged in full.

How much does it cost?

Sessions are £65.00 per 50 minutes. I also offer a free 20 minute consultation so you can see if counselling with me feels right before committing.
